DO these guys run fires or do they just do rescue? One thing that needs to be said about Ephrata Rescue is the dedication these guys have. They have no "first due" area. They aren't even due to their own firehouse if it were on fire! They depend solely on mutual aid companies running them on their assignments to get any call volume. That said, donations are very hard for them to get. Since they have no district to call their own they depend on residents in the area to donate to both the local fire company and their rescue service to keep themselves going. They get some money from Ephrata Borough but even that has been the subject of some recent issues. These guys train all the time. Especailly in vehicle extrication, water rescue, and RIT. I have to say I wish these guys were closer to my area. I think from what I have seen that I would run them on our calls. |
