Just some questionss.... How much did it cost? When is it going in service? What is wrong with the current rescue in the borough that they had to spend money to get a new one? Do the taxpayers of the borough know that they are duplicating services and buying equipment already in service in the borough?
Pump I hope what you say about the 50 year mark is not true for the rescue squad.
After doing some research found that the 50 year mark is January 2010.
Sad loss for the county not just the residents of Ephrata.

While I would also be interested in when it's going in service, consider the following regarding the questions above.
Rescue 115 is 15 years old and I would assume has a number of miles on it based on response distances for that company.
As well, any consideration that there may be some planning/coordination of these two moves?

Just passed it (RS 16) today at the paint shop in Ephrata Township... All old lettering is removed at this time...

My concern would be the people that serve on that dept. Will they be able to continue with another dept. in the county if they so choose? I would hate to see folks with extensive training like they have not be able to use it somewhere else.

The way I understand it, most of the members of Ephrata Rescue are going to absorb into Lincoln. Which is what I hope happens. That way those members can continue to run, and for Lincoln it would be like gaining a load of new experienced membership all at once. Who wouldn't want that kind of influx of membership in a time when volunteerism is becoming less and less?

Here is another question on the topic. If this sort of thing happened in your area... would you honor the years of service those members came to your department with? For example. If Company B merged with your department (Co. A). A few members of Company B had 10 years of service, and Company A awarded life membership at 15 years. Would you honor those members of Company B with life membership of the new consolidated department at the end of 5 years together?

I moved from Tamaqua to Akron. This year I will have 5 years with Akron but Feb of 2010 I will have 20 years in the fire service. I hope they at least give me a word about that when I get my 5 year award. Like I said though...different situation. My wife's company was sold and she stayed on board just after getting a10 year award...the new company allowed her to both keep her Seniority and her time of service. Hopefully 1-6 will do the same with the merger...if the members don't merge and join elsewhere...I see that as the same as my situation.
