MARTIC TOWNSHIP, PA -- Pequea and Rawlinsville Fire Companies were dispatched for an environmental rescue in Pequea on Friday afternoon, June 11 at 17:04. Lancaster County-Wide Communications reported a person stuck in a cave. Response was upgraded to include rescue which brought in Willow Street Rescue 5-12. Units arrived to find two boys stuck in a cave. Three boys were hiking a trail along the Susquehanna River and came upon Wind Cave and decided to check it out. Two of the boys got stuck in the cave and the third was able to go and get help. Only one of the boys were stuck with the second boy behind him and unable to get out. Crews were able to get the boy free by wetting him with soapy water and the area around him and sliding him out. Boys were trapped for about 21/2 hours total. COURTESY OF PUMPFIRE CAPTAIN TOM AMICO
