New Jersey Forestry is reporting a fast moving Forest Fire on the Atlantic/Burlington County Border in the Wharton State Forest.
At 1700 hours it was reported to have burned 500+ acres.
New Jersey State Police has closed Rt. 206 from Rt. 30 to Atsion Rd. approximately 14 miles of roadway as of 1900 hours.
As of 2300 hours it is reported that 1800 acres has burned so far and Forestry expects the Fire to burn around 2300 acres before they can contain it.
Around 50 Firefighters from the New Jersey State Forestry is working to contain the fire. Tankers from surrounding areas such as Hammonton (Atlantic County) and Tabernacle (Burlington County) are supplying water for the state.
