At approximately 20:00 hrs on 1/8/2008 Task Force 22 was dispatched to 285 Rt. 73 International House Of Pancakes (IHOP) for a reported building fire.
2201 Responded, given initial reports of the IHOP sign attached to the building to be on fire, and also fire through the roof.
2201 arrived on location reporting the sign on fire, and fire extending along the false facade.
Ladder 22 arrived, went into operation with one 1.75 handline on the interior and laddered the roof. Crews found the fire rapidly extending along the facade. Crews worked vigilantly interior and exterior to cut the fire off. Interior crews were able to knock the fire down while the truck companies opened up. The fire was placed under control in under 25 minutes. One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was released from the hospital that night.

Heard the initial caller reported fire thru the roof. Good to hear it wasn't as bad as first reported. They hope to reopen fairly fast too.

I've heard of several fires at IHOPs started by their signs. I wonder if there is an issue with something related to them?
