Whats with the firefighters at the LZ packed up and breathing air? To my knowledge in PA while at an LZ you are not suppose to pull a handline.

Whats with the firefighters at the LZ packed up and breathing air? To my knowledge in PA while at an LZ you are not suppose to pull a handline. There is no writen rule for PA regarding this. It is individual SOG's as to what is done. I'm not speaking on behave of Akron as I don't know their operating guidelines. Personnally after dealing with as many rotory aircraft has I have in the military, no lines should be deployed unless there is a fire on the aircraft. It also makes moving the apparatus more difficult if the pilot has to ditch it a long distance away. Keep the hose and the packs on the apparatus along with the structural firefighting gear. Just my opinion.
