Well, I just got home from a weeks vacation in Florida so here was an incident I missed but i thought I would share.
Thursday Oct 11, 2007- Westbound I 94 at the 84mm. A state police trooper pulled over a van pulling a trailer on I94 around 4pm on Thursday. The trailer had several barrels on it. MSP had been receiving several calls from people about this vehicle. Once the trooper realized that there were chemicals involved a hazmat call was put out. Comstock FD Central station responded along with Kalamazoo County Hazmat Team (which I am a team leader for), 51st Civil Support Team, and the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad. I94 was shut down in both directions as operations were started. Some of the chemicals were identified as nitric acid however there were some chemicals that were not able to be identified on scene so they were sent off to a lab for idenification. Units were onscene till about 10 pm when the highway was reopened.
