Middlesex County Old Saybrook, CT
Around 0330 hours the Old Saybrook fire company was alerted of a possible boat fire at the dock. a further update from a nearby cop reported a 44 foot pleasure cruiser fully involved in the slip with extension to the dock and other boats. due to the seriousness of the winds blowing in from the ocean the fire was spreading rapidly. Old saybrook units arrived to find the boat near the very end of the four hundred foot plus long dock. A 2 1/2 line was layed down the dock from engine 351 and then broken down with a 1 3/4 highrise pack to make the attack. the vessel was then brought to a boat lift once the fire was beginning to come under control. From their OSFD units smuthered the remaining fuel fire with foam. Water supply was a salt water draft straight from the mouth of the river next to the marina. the other boats escpaed with severe (but fixable bubbling to the hull and char on the dock along with a melted electrical system.
