This morning a tanker enroute to a barn fire rolled over this morning, injuring 2 fire fighters from Lawton FD. We had some freezing rain overnight which made roads slippery this morning. The tanker from Lawton was enroute to assist Mattawan FD with a barn fire when the driver, a 26 yr old firefighter, lost control of the tanker on the icy road, hit an embankment, and rolled over. The passenger, a 21 yr old firefighter, WHO WAS NOT WEARING A SEATBELT was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to the hospital and is listed in serious condition. The driver was ticketed for driving to fast for condtions.
Van Buren County is the next county west of Kalamazoo County.
I will update as soon as I know more or if I can get some pics.
