This afternoon at aprox 1430 hrs Chester Fire along with auto mutual aid from Deep River and Haddam fire companies were dispatched to a reported structure fire. Old Saybrook RIT was part of the 1st alarm assignment as well. First Officer on scene was 5-0 Chief of Deep River reporting fire through the roof. The Tanker strike team was started bringing tankers from Essex, Killingworth, Clinton, Old Lyme, and East Haddam. Due to manpower shortage Full Assignments were started from Killingworth and Essex. The 1st due truck company from South Fire District in Middletown was also started. The 1st in companies made quick work of the fire containing it to the attic and 2nd floor area. No injureis occured and all went home in about 2 hours.

I did not think the call was a cluster, i think that command did the best he could with what he had. In the middle of the day and a working fire on the second floor of a house with limited manpower, i think it went well.
