Operational question. How much do you bank on vertical vent? There is an awefull amount of windows (horizontal ventilation) that could of been taken.

Well considering some of the windows ARE open, and that it was an ATTIC fire, with no fire and with little smoke on the second floor, there was no reason to bust/open any more windows.

Wouldn't it be more beneficial and safer to take the windows, then pull all the ceilings into the attic, then sending 4 members onto a tin metal roof?

Wouldn't it be more beneficial and safer to take the windows, then pull all the ceilings into the attic, then sending 4 members onto a tin metal roof? As you look at the pictures, The crew of Tower 57 DID everything they could to make things as safe as they could to handle the task. The interior crews from Tanker 58 & Engine 57-4 battled a decent amount of fire in the attic area, they needed the roof cracked. Any basic firefighting class will tell you to vent... The windows in the attic were taken before the roof was opened and more relief was needed... Bottom line... It needed to be done to get the job done... Firefighting is dangerous and you handle the risks the best you can.

plus they couldn't pull the ceilin into the attic...cause it was a floor with no voids in it....so thats why the cracked the roof....they did do a great job in no destryin the peoples house....if you don't nned to pull more than what you need to...then don't pull....

Don't take anything I said as a jabb at you. Just looking to see the differences of opps to the brothers to the west. And as snyder said about the floor. Unless you were there, you would of never have known that.
