Hmm 1972 I don't think I was old enough to be in the fire service except to play with my toy fire trucks. Of course fire fighting has come a long way since 1972. Of course back then they could drive across the median without having to worry about some smuck using the median for their own personal use. If you noticed they had no SCBA or running pants back then. Not sure which unit from Bowie but I think the scene is somewhere out on Route 50. US Route 301 wasn't as big back then as it is now.
