CLAY TOWNSHIP, PA -- Early on March 12th at 0301Hrs., BOX 16 was transmitted to 1731 West Main Street at the Agway Store for the reported building fire. Lancaster County Communications advised units from Company 16 of a reported building behind the Agway Store with smoke pushing from it. Chief 16-2 arrived on scene reporting a large one story warehouse type building with heavy smoke showing, he requested the County Haz-Mat Duty OIC to the scene as the building had unknown type farm storage inside. Engine 16-1 arrived shortly afterward laying out across West Main Street (Route 322) to the scene were they then deployed an 1.75 line on arrival to the interior of the building. Interior crews reported to command of heavy smoke through out the building and were searching for the source of the fire. Command then transmitted the 2nd Alarm with an extra special service for RIC assignment. Interior crews from Engine 16-1 located a vehicle well off to the Alpha/Bravo side inside of the building and made the knock of the fire as 2nd Alarm units were starting to arrive. Crews continued to vented the building and the fire was marked under control in about 45 minutes. No injuries were reported on the fire grounds and all units were ready in about 2 hours after the BOX was transmitted.
