Now that I am back on Kalamazoo Twp FD Station 2 after my leave of abscence here are a couple of pics of the new 2007 Sutphen Engine I had taken this summer before I left. Now that it is in service I will try my best to get better pics.

I think so, it was a special built truck by the owner of Sutphen, some sort of special project.

that is one wicked ugly rig... no offense! lol Major props on the aluminum wheels and short wheel base!!! I don't see anything special about it though, looks pretty run of the mill... A few questions... Is the cab as tiny as it looks? What's with that massive rear bumper? Why so few lights on the lighting package? Is it me or does it look like an HME SFO cab from the side? I'm pretty sure it's a TCM SFO cab. (I believe Sutphen uses "Cincinnati Cab" TCM Corp.) How are those cab latches any problems? We have them on our reserve engine and have replaced them a handful of times

That's an "S" Series Chassis... I can tell by the fact that there is no window on the raised roof section above the standard windows and by the cheaper door latches. The Monarch comes Standard with a Cat C-13 big block and you do not have the option of a big block in the "S".

The sutphen door handles on our tower have had issues and a few have even been rpalced. They feel losse and in some cases wouldnt open.

Yeah I've heard about them, but that's not a Sutphen issue... it's an issue with the company that makes the latch. Freightliner prolly has the worst latches in the market. Just ask us!!! lol

The cab is actually very roomy. It has seating for 4 in the back. 2. Not sure why the tailboard is so big. Its kinda nice tho having that much room to walk on when pulling hose off. 3. The lighting is just about as basic as you can get. Thats the way it came. It does have a LED roto-ray on the front which is all red. I understand we are going to change one of the reds on it to a white so it matches our Sutphen ladder and we are going to add wig-wags to the headlights. 4. I have not heard of any problems with the cab latches thus far. Oh by the way the X-mas firetruck parade was last night here locally and they have a truck decorating contest and for the 3rd year in a row KTFD took first place with our ladder truck. Sorry I forget my camera(DOHHHHHH!!!). I believe there were at least 10 pieces in the parade. It was also cold as hell last night!!!!

Looks like the rear bumper is larger due to the overhang of the ground ladders.
