Middlesex county Old Saybrook, CT
The Old Saybrook Fire dept was dispatched to route 9 southbound between exits 2 and 1 Initially for a tractor trailer Rollever with entrapment. Upon arrival of Chief 301 It was determined that it was not a TT unit, and that the vehicle itself was a large Ford F-350 King Ranch pickup truck. The truck was resting roof side in against a tree (cab intrusion) down the embankment with the occupant still entrapped. after Pt removal the truck remained on its side untill the hazards could be mitigated. the entire fuel tank and other fluids had leaked into the lower area of the embankment, as a result DEP was notified.

The State trooper also began to become verbally aggressive towards the medics due to the fact that the patient was going to be transported to a trauma center 40 miles away at Yale New Haven hospital. The cop wanted to pinch the guy for DUI and didnt want to have to go far, he was a real asshole!

Yea, state troopers can be a real pain in the ass! We had an incident several years ago on I-94 where we had to shut the highway down because we had a roll over with entrapment with critical pt's. The trooper got into my chiefs face about why we were not opening the highway up. Well after that incident, the trooper was transfered to a different part of the state.
