It was reported to us on scene there was one female involved in a one car accident, she ran into a concrete cap covering a well. She went out of the vehicle and fell into the well that was reported to be 90 feet deep. Crews had established contact and lowered a ladder to her, and had given her a helmet. There was water in the well, so either she had held onto the pipes or was floating, In either case, she was not at the bottom. She was at the bottom of the ladder upon our arrival. We deployed out tripod and rope equipment. I monitored the air quality at 4 different depth, down to the patient. The air quality was fine. DC Croft placed a harness on and was attached to a safety line. He went down the ladder to the victim and assessed her injuries. She was able to go up the ladder with DC Croft's assistance and with assistance from the crews at the top. She was flown out, I believe, due to the unknown length of time she was in the well. Great job by everyone on the scene. The communication was excellent. Kudos to Rick, our resident rope nut, on the extrication. This could have been quite worse. We purchased some new confined space equipment with our PEMA grant. With our luck it will show up today. Again, Good job by all.
