Around 11:30 yesterday morning the City of Portage FD was dispatched to a reported trailer fire in the Chateau Trailer Park. Portage E1, E2, E3 and BC1 were enroute. BC1 noted a large column of smoke in the air a mile or so away. He asked that second alarm be struck bringing in off-duty ff and mutual aid from Comstock FD Central station who went direct to scene. Texas Twp FD went to PFD #1 to backfill and Oshtemo FD who went to PFD #2 to backfill. BC1 arrived to find a trailer fully involved. The trailer was unoccupied at the time so defensive operations were put into action. FF had the fire knock down in less than an hour. Arson is believed to be the cause of the fire however it is still under investigation. No injuries, FF or civilian were reported.
