GENEVA – An Aurora woman has died following a head-on collision Saturday morning on Geneva’s East Side.
Ayesha Danley, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Kirk Road, south of Route 38, on the bridge near Elfstrom Stadium, at about 7:40 a.m.
The Kane County Sheriff’s Department said Danley was driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla north on Kirk Road when it was struck in the front by a 2003 Nissan Altima driven by Francis G. Francisco, 33, of Aurora.
Police said Francisco’s vehicle, which was southbound on Kirk Road, appeared to have crossed over the center median before striking Danley’s vehicle.
Francisco was transported by Geneva ambulance to Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva. Police said he is listed in good condition.
Francisco was issued a ticket for driving too fast for conditions.
Lt. Pat Gengler of the Kane County Sheriff’s Department said police have not yet determined a cause for the crash or other details, such as how fast the vehicles involved were traveling.
He said investigators are still collecting data and are awaiting the opportunity to question Francisco.
The crash closed Kirk Road from Route 38 to Cherry Lane throughout the morning Saturday to allow investigators to work on the scene.
Kane County Coroner Chuck West said an autopsy for Danley will be performed Monday.
