Just before noon on Sat. Jan. 19th Kaneville and Big Rock EMS were alerted to a fully involved vehicle fire on I-88 MM 101 westbound. On the orders of Capt. 1616, Dekalb City Fire/Rescue was also alerted b/c it was on the jurisdiction borderline. R-E 1601 went on scene with a fully involved large "Excursion" type SUV in the westbound lanes. Due to the subzero temps. R-E 1601 had minor water and pump problems prompting then to use Dekalb City E-2 for additional water. Units were on scene for about an hour and then cleared.
Note: Units tried foam, but it froze instantly. It was 20 degrees below zero wind chill that day.
Kaneville Units: Rescue-Engine 1601 w/ 5
Big Rock Units: Medic 1552 w/ 2 medics
Dekalb City Units: Bat. 1 Engine 2
