Around 1946 hrs. the Sugar Grove Fire Dist. was alerted to a house on fire near the intersection of Harter and Finley roads. Caller stated that there was a large amount of black smoke coming from the second story of a farm house.
SGFD Engine 901, Bat. 9 and Medic 951 all went en route along with Kaneville Pumper-Tanker 1602, Tanker 1605 and Command 1610.
Kaneville units went on scene first with heavy fire and smoke from the second story of a farm house with a corrected address of "4S020 Harter Rd." The crew from 1602 stretched a 2 1/2" line to the second story and made a knock down of the fire while SGFD 901 stretched a back up line once they arrived on scene.
SGFD Bat. 9 requested updrade Box 9101 to the 1st level and then took the command once on scene...
Several neighboring towns assisted.
The fire was marked under control 3 hrs. later and the scene was turned over to the homeowner.
psssst... KFD beat them in with 3 pieces of apparatus and we were unstaffed! Pretty proud to say we got the knock!!!
