Announcement From United Communities Volunteer Fire Department Queen Anne's County, Maryland
Fire Chief Victor H. Size
It is with deep sadness that the United Communities Volunteer Fire Department in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, announces the untimely passing of Fire Chief Victor H. Size. Chief Size has been battling cancer and succumbed at 04:28 hrs this day. Chief Size was serving his second term as Chief of Department and previously served as Fire Chief with the Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department in Prince George's County, Maryland where he received his life membership. He served with the Maryland Fire Chiefs and worked with the Maryland State Firemen's Association.
Through his position as Fire Life Safety Liaison and Emergency Management Officer with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority, Chief Size was instrumental in providing significant training programs and hands on learning experiences involving subway operations to over 15,000 emergency services personnel locally and worldwide.
He is survived by his loving wife Laurie; children: Jamie, Carrie, Adam, Traci, Tiffany; and grandson Dominick
Funeral arrangements have been made, with viewing at the Robert T. Evans Funeral Home, located at 16000 Annapolis Road in Bowie, Maryland on Sunday July 6, 1400 to 1700 hours and 1900 to 2100 hours. A fire department memorial service will be held at 20:00 hrs that day. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur at 10:00 AM on Monday July 7 at Sacred Heart Church, Annapolis Road in Bowie, Maryland. Interment will follow at Lakemount Memorial Gardens, 900 West Central Avenue, Davidsonville, Maryland.
Departments wishing to bring apparatus to participate in the memorial services should contact Marlboro VFD Fire Chief Tim Clark at 301-830-0102, Cell, or Clinton VFD Fire Chief Robert Small at 240-417-1921, Cell. The membership of the UCVFD and the family of Chief Size would like to thank all of the individuals and departments who have assisted us during this most trying time.
I remember the first time I met Vic. He was the easiest chief officer to get along with. There were several occasions where he drove the engine and forced me to ride the seat, what an experience. I learned alot from him and will miss him deeply.
