Family's Dog Killed In Fire
Homeowners Returned From Church, Discovered Blaze

YORK COUNTY, Pa. -- Fire destroyed a home in Cross Roads Borough, York County.

Fred Konhaus and his wife returned from church Sunday morning to find their house on fire.

"Coming out of the roof in particular. I tried not to get in the way, but walked around to assess what was happening," said Konhaus.

"We were afraid of additional collapse so we pulled everyone out and fought it from the outside," said Ira Walker Jr., Eureka Fire Chief.

A family dog was killed in the fire. No one else was home.

Firefighters said they believe the fire started near the kitchen, but there's no word on a cause.
