Those of us that have followed the tragedy that hit F.D.N.Y. on September 11, 2001, know that there were 3 retired firefighters who came from home that day to help their brothers, but did not return home when it was over. New York law has reinstated them as full members of the department, but the brass heads at headquarters are saying that it was for pension purposes only. Captain James J. Corrigan (23 years service), Firefighter Philip T. Hayes (20 years service), and Firefighter William X. Wren (25 years service) have not had their names included on the F.D.N.Y. Wall of Honor as they should have almost 7 years ago. There is legislation that this petition addresses that would restore them as active members with full accidental death benefits so that their families would receive the same benefits as the families of the other 343 that perished that day. Won't you please take a few minutes and go to www.petitiononline.com/Roses911/petition.html and click on the link at the top of the page that says "Sign the petition". All that is asked for is your name and address. You will not be placed on a mailing list, and you will not be asked for any personal information. No matter where we call home, we are all brothers, and it's way past time that these 3 heroes got the respect they deserve. After all, they died to get it. We honor our deceased members every year, but these men have yet to receive their due. It's all about respect. I also ask to the Moderators, that if they would, stickie this to other forums as well as this thread.
