808 E. Lincoln Hwy.(Illinois Rt. 38) Downtown DeKalb.
3 alarm
3 story modified multi family dwelling.
Heavy fire showing division 2 upon arrival.
1st alarm assignment went out around 6PM w/ E2,E3,M1,T1 and B/C 1.
The 2nd and 3rd alarms were requested within 10 minutes. FF's fought temps. In the teen's. Reportedly the building had a heavy fireload and MANY void spaces.These 3 combined made it a difficult fire to fight.

No you heard right... LOL. So you have all the equipment mounted and hose packed on it already? Nice work! Yes I made a checklist of everything NFPA, ISO and what we wanted on it. I then spent "2" 10 hours days mounting equipment and checking everything off on the list. We trained 5 of out of 12 of our regular drivers to drive and pump. That was it's first call... Yours truly was the officer... LOL! It may not go on every call until we become fully confortable, but the 3 others in my company asked me what we were taking for the transfer... I said "Da Grave!". It's in "Limited" Service pending new rescue tools. |

This fire is also deemed as arson with a suspect in custody...
The initial call made it suspicious... called in as a bedroom fire and get on scene with heavy fire less than 2 minutes later... yeah that's NOT ODD!

LOL I've ran one before, but this was a lot more fun b/c it's NEW! We're got a lot of looks from the firemedic unit when we pulled up to thier station. Sorta like a deer in tyhe headlights... LOL. They thought it was (PG-13 rated) "BOOBS!" LOL The crappy thing is it was SNOWING BALLS that night! Made for a crappy and slow ride! |
