This should be considered an LODD but according to Michigan law it is not.
It is with deep sadness that the Portage Fire Dept announces the passing of FF Brad Wilson after a tough battle with cancer. The following info is from http://www.portagefirefighters.org:
Update on December 29th, 2008
It is with extreme sadness that we report here Brother Brad Wilson passed away this evening from his battle with Mesothelioma. At approximately 8:15pm, surrounded by the love of his family and close friends, Brad Wilson embarked on the next journey of life.
Brad has been fighting this aggressive form of lung cancer since early summer, even going to Houston, Texas in order to receive the best possible treatment. It was an uphill battle from the beginning, however one that Brad faced head on with the support of his loved ones. Brad's doctors went to great lengths in order to give Brad the best opportunity for a favorable outcome, including removal of Brad's lung and some of the sack around Brad's heart. In the end, all of the exhaustive treatment left Brad's body frail and unable to fend off pneumonia.
We extend our most heart-felt, sincerest "appreciation" to everyone who heard Brad's story, stepped up and donated time, money and/or prayers for Brad and his family. Our Portage community came out in force to attend a spaghetti dinner for Brad, donated money as well as send messages of love to the family. Brad's story even reached our brotherhood around the country, many whom didn't hesitate to send money to help support the family during this time. Along with Brad's family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
At this time, visitation and funeral arrangements are being planned by the family. Please continue to keep their family in your thoughts and prayers.
I knew the man and he was a hell of a nice guy, its a great loss and he will be missed.
