Fatal Plane Crash Friends are mourning the loss of a Rutherford county pilot killed in a plane crash. It happened Saturday night near a private airstrip in Ellenboro. Friends say Jerry Brown had years of experience, and that, though he'd just bought the ultra light, he'd flown it before. Friends say it appears Brown hit power lines while trying to land around 6:00 PM Saturday night. They say it appears he may not have seen the power lines at the edge of the runway. "I don't know whether it was dark enough where he couldn't see the power line, or why he flew into it, but that's unusual for a guy like him that's been flying as long as he's been flying," Chip Hawkins explains. Rutherford county Sheriff Jack Connor says Brown died at the scene. FAA Investigators were scheduled to examine the wreckage Sunday afternoon, but there's no official word on what caused the crash. This happened in the County I live in and was working when the 911 call came in...Thoughts and prayers for the family members www.wlos.com for the video
