GASTON COUNTY - Thursday afternoon, March 19th, about 30 personnel from the Gastonia Fire Department, Crowder’s Mountain Fire Department, Gaston Life Saving, Gaston EMS, and the State Park Service, responded to a patient that fell at Crowder’s Mountain State Park. The emergency teams worked quickly and seamlessly together as they rescued the patient from his fall. The 35 year-old male patient had fallen 25 feet off of a rock and then rolled another 50 feet down an embankment. The patient suffered two broken arms and trauma to his head. He was carefully extracted from the mountain to a landing zone where he was flown to Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte. The condition of the patient is unknown as this time. www.firenews.net
