ROWAN COUNTY - An Engine from the Woodleaf Fire Department was involved in a crash on Woodleaf Road Tuesday morning. According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, a 2000 Freightliner driven by Joseph “Bubba” Gregory, 38, of Potneck Road, traveling east crossed the center line and hit head-on a 2002 Pontiac traveling west. The Pontiac was driven by Latoya Gardner, 25, of Stanwyck Road. Both were being treated in the emergency room at Rowan Regional Medical Center shortly before noon Tuesday. Trooper A.J. Carpenter of the N.C. Highway Patrol said neither appeared to be facing life-threatening injuries. Carpenter said Gregory would be charged with driving left of center. He said the accident happened when two cars stopped in front of Gregory and he didn’t see them until it was too late for him to stop, causing him to swerve across the center line.
