MAINE FIREFIGHTER LINE OF DUTY DEATH-IN THE FIREHOUSE The Secret List www.FireFighterCloseCalls.com It is with deep regret that we, announce the Line of Duty Death of South Portland (Maine) Firefighter/Paramedic Debra Cole. Deb was a 7 year veteran of the South Portland Fire Department with over 12 years of fire service experience. She will be missed dearly as she was a true and loyal friend to all at the South Portland Fire Department and in the area. Reports are that Fire/Medic Cole collapsed in the station, prior to the end of her shift, and was discovered by her Firefighters yesterday morning. It appears she suffered a stroke. Her collapse was not witnessed but was overheard and she was tended to immediately by the rest of her crew. She was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Me. where she was treated, including almost 11 hours of surgery. Unfortunately Fire/Medic Cole was not able to survive this and passed away this afternoon. As always our most sincere condolences to our friends at the SPFD but especially the family and friends of Firefighter Paramedic Debra Cole.
