It is with great sadness that I pass along the following information:
Today: January 2, 2010 former assistant chief Michael Krakosky has passed away due to complications with diabetes. Mike had been dealing with diabetes for the past few years and limited his ability to do one of his favorite passions that being a volunteer fire fighter.
Mike, served as a mentor and friend when I started out in the volunteer fire service and was my partner through my EMT training. Without his knowledge, experience, friendship, I highly doubt I would of made it through EMT.
Rest in peace Mike, you will be sorely missed by your EMT partner and friend.
Bill Brierton (formerly of Marlboro V.F.D.)

Today we laid Chief Michael Francis Krakosky to rest. I want to thank those units from Calvert, Anne Arundel and Prince George's for providing assistance to Marlboro V.F.D.
I truelly hope that Marlboro keeps Engine 452 dedicated to his memory.
For me personnally it has been a rough week since I find myself remembering the times I rode with Mike a majority of the time he was driving and I ended up in the officers seat. I still can hear his voice asking "Where we're going?" Reflecting on that I knew he was challanging me to become a better fire fighter and perhaps a future officer.
Mike you will be sorely missed.
