At 1:09 pm, the 33.72 pre-alert and dispatch went out for a building fire at 1695 Robert Fulton Highway in Little Britain Township. This brought the QFD, Robert Fulton FC (5-13), Bart Twp. FC (5-1) and local EMS. Deputy 5-7 (Ryan) responded and was advised a workshop was on fire. A large column of smoke could be seen from the Borough, indicating a well advanced fire. Deputy 5-7 arrived and requested a second alarm.
Engine 5-13-1 was still on the air from a previous call and responded immediately and arrived first, stretching a line to an exposure and protecting it. Engine 5-7-4 arrived and stretched several lines to protect exposures and began fire attack. Both Engine 5-13-1 and Engine 5-7-4 laid 600' each of 4" supply line. Truck 5-7 set up on side "A" and began fire attack from the bucket mounted deluge gun. Tanker 5-7 and Chief 5-7 began the water supply operation, eventually putting Union FC Tanker 21 as the nurse, with all additional tankers supplying them.
Units worked throughout the afternoon in the 90 degree weather to extinguish the fire that ended up being in a 100' X 50' woodshop that produced lathe and other ornamental wood products.
The fire was under control at 2:57 pm, with units remaining until 4:57 pm.
The following companies responded: QFD, Robert Fulton 5-13, Bart Township 5-1, Rawlinsville 5-8, Union 21, Rising Sun 8, Port Deposit 7, Refton 5-9 and EMS from Wakefield, SVEMS and Providence.
Stand by units included Refton 5-9, Christiana 5-2 and Lampeter 5-4. Stand by companies responded to one other call for us.
