The Cornelius-Lemely Volunteer Fire Department had a close call this morning with Engine 5, and 4 members onboard. While enroute to assist with a structure fire, the engine hit a patch of black ice, and lost control, veering off the roadway, and rolling over once, coming to rest on its roof. All 4 member onboard were treated and released from the hospital with no injuries. The truck itself did sustain damage, but thankfully to the engineers at Seagrave, the "ALL STEEL" cab held up, and did not buckle, or "crush" inward.
Engine 5, is a 2005 Seagrave Engine Company. The department had recently purchased another Seagrave Engine Company, and has now placed the "reserve" piece into front line service.
Picture of the engine is up on FFCC
