At 15:07 Hours the Syosset Fire District Dispatcher received a call from a commisioner reporting a working house fire in the vicinity of Syosset Sta 3.The signal for a working fire was transmitted on his confirmation.
Engine 585 was on the road 1st, Could see the house from the front bay. Went on scene, picked up their own hydrant. Had a 2 story wood constructed P/D with heavy smoke showing. The crew of E585 pulled a 300' crosslay to the front door.
Soon after TL 582 went on scene and assumed 1st due truck responsibility's.The 2nd due engine 584 went on scene and had command. They too had their own water source.
At that time, a M/A call went out for Hicksville for 1 Engine to the scene, Engine 932 and a call for a FAST from Jericho, TL 941.
I got there prior to 932 and 941's arrival.
932 came in as 3rd due engine, pulling the 2nd line.
TL 941 came in as 2nd due truck.
Heavy fire was located in the cockloft, and the rear of the house.
Wires down and a collapse for the 2/3 corner let fire blow freely over the roof of the house.
Fire was K/D in approx 35 mins.
Total of 3 Lines stretched and Operating.
